Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) is a strategic integrated energy project designed to deliver natural gas from Azerbaijan to European markets. It connects upstream gas production with a cross-border transportation system, enabling long-term and large-scale supply through a unified corridor from the Caspian Sea to Europe.
The project comprises the full-field development of the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field (Stage 2) and the development and operation of key pipeline infrastructure, including the South Caucasus Pipeline expansion (SCPX), the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP), and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). Together, these elements form an integrated value chain covering production, transportation, and export.
The Southern Gas Corridor is fully operational and functioning in stable commercial mode. Azerbaijani natural gas is currently being delivered to European markets through the completed infrastructure.
The State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) supports the State’s participation in the project by financing the State’s equity contribution. SOFAZ also participates in governance through representation on the Supervisory Board and acts as the beneficiary of revenues attributable to the State’s share in the project.
